Head nurse Sara Cowen said: "At first we thought he had a condition called ballooning - where air gets trapped under the skin - but when he was brought in we realised he was just a huge fat hedgehog."
It worries me that it looks like he's sitting there rubbing his paws together. He's plotting: "Zo, now vee haf ze hoomans vell trained. Nuzzink kan shtop unser plens to take ofah ze wurld!"
I think he grew more pointy bits - as he got fatter he must have grown more flesh and skin, so the pointy follicle cells would be included in that. Although maybe that's a question for the Wildlife Aid website - I mean, if he did grow more pointy bits, and then lost weight, he would presumably be quite wrinkly underneath the prickles, and if he weighs 4 times what a hedgehog should then he might have 4 times as many prickles as necessary. Snorgle-snorkle needed, for sure!
Yes, but we grow more skin, and that skin has hair follicles. If we didn't then we'd spend our lives with the same amount of hair that we had when we were born, no?

I'm thinking "Jabba the Hedge".
Awww, what a cute fat patootie. Hope he gets back to healthy weight soon.
I'm thinking the pointy bits merely stretched further apart. I mean, we humans don't get hairier when we get fatter, right?
